Dear Reader
After 1945 Bavaria was cut off by the Iron Curtain from many former markets in Eastern Germany and former Czechoslovakia and fell into a difficult outside position. Through hard, single-minded work Bavaria succeeded in transforming itself from a backward, agricultural state into competitive, prosperous location. Today Bavaria is one of the economically strongest states in Europe and enjoys an excellent reputation in the field of high tech. Measured by its gross domestic product (GDP), Bavaria even outstrips 19 of the 27 member states of the European Union, and the economic output per resident is far above the average for Europe and Germany. With the increase in GDP by 31.5 per cent over the last ten years, the federal state of Bavaria has clearly outstripped the average for former West Germany and also leads Germany in the increase in the number of jobs. To put it in a nutshell, Bavaria has written its success story as part of Germany‚s economic miracle and the Bavarian State Government will do everything to ensure that this development continues. The dynamic location that is Bavaria will be further strengthened and expanded, so companies from all over the world are heartily welcome to aim at Bavaria as an investment target.
